Answer to Question 1

Bones develop early in life, at the 5th week during gestation. Bones begin as soft, rubbery cartilage. At the 7th week, ossification occursreplacing the cartilage with hard, mineralized bone. Ossification is usually complete in early adult life (college-age students).

Bones are a living tissuethey continue to grow throughout the lifecycle. Bones are the site of red and white blood cell production and produce platelets for clotting.
