Osteopenia, osteoporosis

Answer to Question 2

Growing evidence suggests that moderate consumption of coffee may contribute to optimizing health. Recent research indicates that drinking coffee may reduce risk of developing type 2 diabetes and colorectal and/or ovarian cancer. There may be an inverse relationship between coffee and caffeine consumption and the risk of developing Parkinson's disease. Conversely, some evidence exists that coffee consumed in excess may increase circulating LDL cholesterol as well as risk for iron and zinc deficiencies. Excessive coffee consumption has also been related to undesirable sleepiness in adolescents/young adults, headaches, and increased birth defects and perhaps miscarriages in women. The bottom line is... moderation in caffeine consumption is the key.
