Answer to Question 1

Symptoms are caused by high levels of blood glucose. The kidneys work overtime drawing water out of the blood to filter excess glucose out of the blood. This results in frequent urination, dehydration, and thirst. Glucose can't get into the cells to nourish the cells, so the person feels hungry and weak (fatigued) because the cells are starving for energy.
