Answer to Question 1

A condensation reaction chemically joins together two monosaccharides, at least one of which is glucose, by forming a glycosidic bond. The bond occurs when the hydroxyl group (-OH) from one of the monosaccharides interacts with the hydrogen (-H) group from the other monosaccharide. This results in a loss of water (H2O). Disaccharides have a molecular formula of C6H12O6
