Answer to Question 1

T

Answer to Question 2

Younger people equate Vitamin D deficiency with poor nutrition or lack of access to milk or dairy products. They see osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal problems as diseases of the elderly. They might not feel any outward effects of marginal Vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D deficiency in the younger people may prevent optimal absorption and use of calcium by their bodies. This could lead to a less than optimal bone density by the time that they reach their mid-30's. They can experience bone thinning or dramatic bone loss much earlier than someone with a higher peak bone mass.
