Answer to Question 1

For the patient with gallbladder disorders, weight and weight history should be obtained, and a 24-hour recall, diet history, or food diary should be used to determine intake and tolerance of specific foods or nutrients. Albumin and prealbumin levels should be assessed if the patient is NPO and/or has a concurrent infection. Medications for treatment of gallstones, infection, and pain should be noted.
