Answer to Question 1

Hair proteins contain many sulfur-containing amino acids that stabilize the hairs structure and determine whether it is naturally straight or curly. Permanent solutions work by first breaking the disulfide bonds with an alkaline solutionthis denatures the proteinand then forming new bonds which set the hair in the style desired.

Answer to Question 2

An opinion, although it is important to consider that many other proteins in our food supply pose serious allergy issues for many consumers (soy products, milk proteins, corn). It may be wise to propose more legislation requiring restaurants to identify all potentially problematic food allergens. FALCPA applies only to packaged, FDA-regulated foods. The FDA advises consumers who are allergic to particular foods to ask questions about ingredients and preparation when eating at restaurants.
