Answer to Question 1

 Partial glossectomy:
- This is the removal of part of the tongue and then sewing the remaining portion back together or using a small skin graft to cover the resected area (which is then sewn into place). During this procedure, a tracheotomy is used to facilitate breathing during the procedure.
 Right neck dissection:
- This involves an incision into the neck to remove the lymph nodes containing cancer cells. Special care must be taken in order to avoid important blood vessels and nerves.
 Nutritional concerns:
- Mr. Seyer will not be able to swallow until cleared by the SLP and will need nutritional support
- May incur issues with pain, altered tastes, difficulty chewing and swallowing, dyspnea, and nausea/vomiting which all may lead to lower oral intake and diminished appetite.

Answer to Question 2

Fluid requirements: around 2400-2700mL/d (1 mL/kcal; rounded)
Or 35-40 mL/kg: 2736-3127 mL/d (or 2700-3100 mL/day)

Currently receiving: 4500 mL (total intake)  4879 mL (total output), indicating adequate renal function at this time to handle the fluid load.
