Answer to Question 1

 >90 sensitivity means the test yields few false negative results
 > 95 specificity means the tests yields few false positive results

Answer to Question 2

Ireton-Jones: 5W  11A + 244 + 1784
(5 x 55.5)  (11 x 65) + 244 + 1784
277.5  715 + 244 + 1784 = 1590.5 or 1600 kcal
Penn State (2003b) 1189 kcal x 1.2 x 1.3 = 1854 kcal
American Chest Physician's Equation 30-35 kcal/kg/current weight 1663 kcal  1940 kcal
s

As the clinician, suggest the range of 1600-1700 kcal.
The preferred method would be to use indirect calorimetry to obtain measured energy requirements rather than calculated or estimated energy requirements.
The range of 1.2-1.5 g protein/kg is appropriate as an estimation of protein requirements.
 Since Mr. H's albumin and prealbumin are within normal limits, starting with 1.2 g protein/kg is reasonable. 55.5 kg x 1.2-1.5 = 67-83 g protein/day.
