ANS: C
Sponges are suspension feeders. This means they strain plankton and organic particles from the
surrounding water. Information can be found in the section Invertebrates Are the Most Successful and
Abundant Animals.



Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
There had to have been an abundance of phyla created towards the end of the oxygen revolution. Not
all groups of early marine animals survived. Abundant species still perished. Information can be found
in the section Animals Evolved When Food and Oxygen Became Plentiful.
