  (a) 95.0 g CH3CH2OH and 5.0 g H2O
  (b) 10.0 g CH3OH, 10.0 g CH3CH2OH, and 10.0 g CH3CH2CH2OH

Answer to Question 1

(a) moles ethanol = 95.0/46.0 = 2.07
moles water = 5.0/18.0 = 0.28
mole fraction of ethanol = 2.07/(2.07 + 0.28) = 0.88
mole fraction water = 0.12
(b) methanol: 0.449; ethanol: 0.312; propanol: 0.239



Answer to Question 2

26 mL of azeotrope would distill, followed by water. Therefore,
1: 78
2: 78
3: 78-100
4: 100
5: 100
