Three properties that are acceptable are high specific heat, high heat of vaporization, and density of the solid less than the density of the liquid. All of these properties are a result of hydrogen bonding. A complete answer should refer to the idea that hydrogen bonding causes an increased amount of interaction between water molecules, resulting in larger amounts of energy being necessary to cause changes such as increased temperature or vaporization. The unexpected low density of solid water (ice) is a result of the way water molecules fit together because of hydrogen bonds.
