However, it is important to note that behaviors that are difficult to deal with may not necessarily be temperament characteristics but may be typical of toddler development. Toddlers are known to exhibit hard to manage behaviors such as aggression, tantrums, and failure to comply with adult commands. Toddlers are becoming more aware of themselves and developing a broader self-concept. Their view of themselves beings to include their ethnic self concept. They also are developing and awareness of their gender identity.
