Risk factors that increase the risk of unintentional injury include: the age of children present; times when teachers or children are tired, hungry, or not feeling well; whenever a new child or teacher joins the group; when there is a staff shortage; when rules haven't been thoroughly explained to children when new play equipment or toys are introduced; and, when conditions are rushed.
