strategies outlined in the text: carefully assess student knowledge and skills; develop goals to address gaps in student knowledge and skills; create partnerships with other teachers regarding effective culturally relevant instructional strategies and content; make learning relevant; identify cultural models that can be used to build student knowledge; affirm student identity and cultural backgrounds; integrate cultural knowledge and models; and engage parents in partnerships to enhance the learning of their children.
