Question 2

This is a 16-month-old child who was noticed by her father to place an object into her nose. She immediately started crying and has been inconsolable. On evaluation in the physician's office, the toddler was noted to have an object in her nostril. The child was sedated, and removal of a pebble from her nasal passage was performed without difficulty. The parents were given signs and symptoms to watch for, and instructions to give the child baby aspirin for pain. No follow-up is necessary unless problems arise.
