A 5-year-old boy is hospitalized with an unknown illness. This is his third hospitalization for vomiting and stomach pains over the past year. While hospitalized this time he continues to get worse. His blood test reveals a presence of a poison that would explain the symptoms. Tests over the next few days show an increase of the poison in his blood. Besides the medical staff, his only visitor is his mother. He may be a victim of:
◦ Munchausen's syndrome by proxy
◦ Battered child syndrome
◦ Shaken baby syndrome
◦ Munchausen's syndrome
