As ships get bigger, this will require port upgrades for both embarkation and disembarkation. Further, the possible loss of tax breaks are a concern and the need for safety upgrades will also add to costs. The construction of the larger ships anticipates that demand will materialize when those ships are delivered and this is always problematic.

Answer 2

While ecotourism destinations and activities are found in both developed and developing countries, students may be inclined to think only of isolated destinations in developing countries as ecotourism destinations. The chapter provides a variety of examples of both.
