Answer to Question 1

 Physical dependence  withdrawal symptoms occur when individual decreases or stops use of substance
 Psychological dependence  craving or compulsion to use a particular substance despite detrimental consequences; individual may or may not be physically dependent
 Individual may be both physically and psychologically dependent on substances
 Individual may be physically or psychologically dependent on substances (not both)
