If our goal is to strengthen our heart and lower our risk of cardiovascular disease and premature death, then cardiorespiratory fitness is the element of fitness we need to focus on. Cardiorespiratory fitness, otherwise known as aerobic fitness, refers to the body's heart, blood vessels, and lungs ability to supply oxygen-rich blood to the muscles during sustained physical activity.
