The most common physiological symptoms after a first trimester abortion include cramping, heavy bleeding with possible clots, and nausea. Psychological reactions to abortion include relief and happiness; socially based emotions such as shame, guilt, and fear of disapproval; and internally based emotions including regret, anxiety, depression, doubt, and anger.
