Answer to Question 1

Answer:
First, a stimulus (event) activates an attitude. The attitude then influences our perception of the stimulus or event. The stimulus also activates our awareness of social norms about appropriate behavior in that particular situation. The attitude and social norms form our framing or definition of the event. This framing and defining then shapes our behavior related to the stimulus or event.

Answer to Question 2

Answer:
Participants were randomly assigned to complete either an easy or a difficult talk. Then participants read either a strong or weak message in favor of comprehensive exams. When people had high ego-depletion (were assigned the difficult task) they were more persuaded by both strong and weak arguments. Individuals who had low ego depletion (were assigned the easy task) were only persuaded by the strong arguments. This indicates that it takes effort to resist persuasive appeals or at least to process them well, thus the ego-depleted participants were more likely to heuristically process and were persuaded by any argument even when the argument was weak.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
