Answer: This reinforcement-affect model posits that we like people with whom we associate positive feelings and dislike those with whom we associate negative feelings. The social exchange models states that affiliation and friendship are motivated by a single, simple rule: to maximize the benefits to costs ratio. The reinforcement-affect and social exchange models are domain-general because they both specify one simple rule that generalizes to all relationships.
