Answer to Question 1

Answer: There are two proposed reasons as to how aggression could help men pass on their genes. First, displays of aggression are often displays of social dominance. Females tend to be more attracted to males with more power, thus dominant males would potentially attract more mates. Secondly, males are aggressive out of jealousy. Males who aggress against other males who may be trying to steal their mate may reduce the likelihood of the other males' success. This would ensure the paternity of the children with their mate, and reduce the likelihood that they are raising another male's child.
