Imagine you are about to take a very important exam that could impact your future. A friend asks you how disappointed you think you would be if you found out you did not perform very well on the exam.

Answer: According to impact bias, individuals are likely to overestimate the intensity and duration of negative emotional reactions. Therefore, you would likely overestimate how bad you would feel if you received negative feedback relative to how you would actually feel after the feedback.
