- Self-awareness: Being aware of your feelings enables you to rationally take emotion into account when making a decision
- Mood management: Strong emotions interfere with making a good decision
- Motivation: Maintaining hope and optimism especially when encountering a setback
- Empathy: Being sensitive to others' feelings enables you to understand them better
- Social skill: The ability to deal productively with the emotions of others enables you to be more effective in helping people get along with each other (harmonizing) and getting things done (leading)
