1 point for any of the following explanations of how the manner in which we get/got attention affects self-esteem, or something similar:
- We all need attention. Positive attention is best, but negative attention is better than no attention at all. The way we had to get attention as childrenpositive, negative, or nonesent us messages about our worth
- If all you got as a child was negative attention you might decide that you're not worth much and later in life you might think you don't deserve positive attention

Answer to Question 2

Give at least two reasons why women stay in abusive relationships. 2 points; 1 each for any two of the following:
- Lack of self-esteem; beliefs about what is possible for them
- Beliefs about what is normal; history of abuse as a child
- Lack of resources; financial dependency on another person; trouble finding a place to live
- Concerns about safety; leaving an abusive spouse doesn't necessarily make a person more safe
- Fear of losing their children
