Answers will vary, but students should point out that many middle-aged adults find
themselves in the position of having to care for their aging parents at the same time
that their grown children are turning to them for financial help and child care. This is
a concern for employers who want a large number of work hours from their
employees. Women are more likely to be kinkeepers and caretakers, especially
daughters (more so than daughters-in-law). Adults who provide assistance probably
have a generous personality.
