Answer to Question 1

Responses will vary and should include the quick, flexible thinking of fluid
intelligence and the accumulation of knowledge and information of crystallized
intelligence. Fluid intelligence might help you to quickly recall whether a gas station
had been passed very recently, and to try to determine your location when calling for
help. Crystallized intelligence might help you to draw on past experience of similar
situations to determine if methods used to deal with them would apply here. A long-term memory of the geographic area could help determine the nearest gas
station.

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary. The woman should work on emotional relationships, education,
and financial security. Physical health is also a factor in intellectual functioning, so
good health habits should be maintained. The woman will likely experience decline
in some abilities more than others, but she should be able to maintain skills in her
area(s) of expertise.
