Answer to Question 1

There are numerous answers here. Parasuicide, suicidal ideation, and cluster
suicide could be mentioned, as well as depression and frequent fits of rage. The
following factors increase the likelihood that suicidal ideation will lead to a suicidal
plan, parasuicide, or death: availability of lethal means (especially guns), lack of
parental supervision, use of alcohol and other drugs, being male, and cultural
attitudes.

Answer to Question 2

Cliques are groups of close friends who are loyal to each other and exclude
adolescents outside of the group, while crowds are larger groups who have
something in common but may not be friends. Crowds are often based on race,
ethnicity, common interests, or personal characteristics. Positive aspects of cliques
are loyalty to each other and social support. Negative aspects of cliques include
exclusion of others and social control. Positive aspects of crowds include social
support of individuals with whom adolescents have something in common and with
whom they can identify. Negative aspects of crowds include social control through
criticism of those who fail to conform.
