Answer to Question 1

Answers should point to the importance of providing a variety of activities
appropriate to the physical development, skills, and reaction times of children at
various ages. The best answers will include discussion of sex differences and
similarities in athletic skills and discussion of the needs of special children. Students
should show a good understanding of motor abilities during these ages. Further, the
students should stress making the activities exciting and not too competitive and
avoiding comparisons between players.

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary and should include starting slowly, especially with Emma. Emma
will most likely have the lowest body mass index in the family. Both children's
muscles will become stronger each year, their lung capacity will expand, and they
will be able to run faster and longer without breathing more heavily each year.
