Answer to Question 1

Answers will vary but should make some mention of the bullet points in the textbook:
Baumrind's participants were similar in SES; she focused more on parental attitudes
than behavior, overlooked the child's contribution to the relationship, and did not take
into account that some authoritarian parents are very affectionate.

Answer to Question 2

Both styles involve the parent not using physical punishment, but
neglectful/uninvolved parents tend not to care what their children are doing.
Permissive parents are very involved in their children's life.

Dogs have been used in studies to detect various cancers in human subjects. They have been trained to sniff breath samples from humans that were collected by having them breathe into special tubes. These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
