Animism is the belief that natural yet inanimate, or nonhuman, objects or animals
have human characteristics such as being alive, feeling emotion and intention, etc.
A child may believe that a doll has emotions or that her pet cat thinks like she does.
Adult animism may be expressed through superstitious behaviors such as the belief
that a black cat can bring bad luck.
