Answer to Question 1

Secure attachment results in both scenarios. Working mothers spend almost as
much time playing with their infants as at-home mothers because the infant-parent
relationship is often a high priority of working mothers. The quality of the home
environments for working mothers slightly exceeds that of at-home mothers since
working mothers tend to spend less time on housework and almost no time on
leisure activities.

Answer to Question 2

Proximal parenting differs from distal parenting in that proximal parenting involves
close body contact with the child while distal parenting focuses more on the intellect
and objects. Proximal parenting results in compliance and interdependence. Distal
parenting results in self-awareness and independence. Parents might be motivated
by cultural expectations and their perceptions of what their children need in order to
be successful in society.
