Answer to Question 1

Sensorimotor (birth to 2 years), preoperational (2 to 6 years), concrete operational (6 to 11 years),
and formal operational (12 years through adulthood). See page 45, Table 2.2, for a description of
what occurs during each stage.

Answer to Question 2

Social learning theory acknowledges that humans appreciate the touch, warmth, reassurance, and
example of other humans. In addition to the classical and operant conditioning on which behaviorism
focuses, social learning theory holds that social learning, or modeling, is a prime source of learning.
