The secular trend refers to children in the Western world growing dramatically more rapidly and being taller than children from earlier times. This historical trend toward increasing adult height has been accompanied by an earlier onset of puberty. The increased in height and weight has been documented in most developed countries. Nutrition and medical advantages have a big role to play. Even children in lower socioeconomic classes are benefiting from improved nutrition today.
