The student should indicate that the first phase for a blended family is the turbulent early phase. It is characterized by three stages the individual must pass through. The first stage in this phase is fantasy, the belief that everyone will love one another and love will fix all problems. The second stage is immersion, the realization that there are lots of problems and confusion and a lack of rules. Stage three is awareness--the family members become more familiar with each other.
