How does moral reasoning differ for those at the moral realism and the autonomous morality stages?

Answer to Question 1

Children at the moral realism stage believe that punishment should be meted out based on the amount of damage inflicted by the offender. They also believe that rules are non-negotiable and based on an ultimate reality. Children at the autonomous reality stage, on the other hand, believe that punishment should be determined by one's intentions. Also, they believe that rules can be negotiated and determined by the players.
