The launching velocity of a projectile is 20 m/s at 53° above the horizontal. What is the vertical component of its velocity at launch?

Consider a triangle ABC where angle B=90degrees, angle C=53degrees.
Let AC=20 m/s
cos C=BC/AC where BC=horizontal component.
Hence, Horizontal component=ACcosC=20*cos(53)

sin C=AB/AC, where AB=vertical component.
Hence, Vertical component=ACsinC=20*sin(53).
