  a. not talk about the new baby until the third trimester when the baby is very clearly visible in the mother's belly..
  b. tell the older child that he or she was once a little baby too.
  c. get the older child used to spending more time with his or her father.
  d. prepare the older child for the new baby's arrival and make the child a part of the baby's care in some way.
