Why might certain jobs, such as lifeguard, coach, tutor or office clerk, reduce the negative influence of working outside school on schoolwork and extracurricular activities?

Answer: These jobs may provide more flexible working hours to accommodate students school and extracurricular commitments.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Students who already have less interest in school and extracurricular activities may self-select into jobs with longer hours.
