Answer: There is increasing pressure to get good grades, which is an extrinsic motivator, and activities in school tend to be less cognitively stimulating, compared to earlier grade levels.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Sensitivity to rewards peaks in early to middle adolescence, and sensitivity to punishments is low in early adolescence and grows steadily in adulthood.
