Parents agree that children add affection, improve family ties, and give parents a feeling of immortality and a sense of accomplishment. The negative aspects of having children include the expense and lifestyle changes. Couples without children have some advantages: higher marital satisfaction, more freedom, and higher standards of living. The negative aspects of being childless would be missing out on the positive aspects of having children.
