Fluid intelligence consists of the abilities that make you a flexible and adaptive thinker, that allow for inferences, and allow for understanding of relationships among concepts. Crystallized intelligence is that knowledge you have acquired through life experience and education in a particular culture. Crystallized intelligence is based partly on the quality of a person's underlying fluid intelligence. Fluid intelligence declines throughout adulthood, whereas crystallized intelligence improves.
