The student should indicate that any factor that is identified as important to a couple in a relationship is a resource and is assigned a value. Anything of value can be negotiated to gain power in a relationship. Examples: a husband wanting sex will try hard to be accommodating to his wife in order to gain that reward. She has more power and control in these situations. Families that value parenting and homemaking skills will assign more decision making power to the mother if she is the one who performs these skills.
