The student should discuss the steps that can help children adjust to the loss that divorce brings to their lives. Children should be told about the divorce in simple terms with blame on either parent. Children should be told the divorce is not their fault. Parents need to accept children will experience a range of emotions in reaction to the divorce. Parents should never put children in the middle of their divorced relationship. Parents also need to attend to their own emotional recovery so they can be supportive to their children.
