A cushion hitch suspension system will have a leveling valve that does this:
 
  a. Keeps the suspension cylinders level
 b. Diverts pump flow away from the load cylinder when the proper rodextension is reached
 c. Diverts pump flow to the nitrogen side of the accumulator when the proper precharge is reached
 d. Charges the accumulator to the proper pressure to achieve the proper load cylinder rod extension
