Basic change was the rise of Prussian as a power.  After the 30 years war which killed millions of Germans they had had enough.  Forget the Kings name but he brought in the potato and thus the people always had calorie intake to survive on even if armies came through and stole the food as they were under ground.  got the potato from the spanish.  One interesting thing that made their army so good was the introduction of the needle gun or rifle which was the early repeating rifle.  While the other armies were reloading they were firing away which meant  each man was worth 3 or more of the other armies.  Interesting during the American civil war the Prussians had this gun and if the french or English had imported it then the odds of manpower in the favor of the north would have been cut down and the South would have had an edge and the outcome would have been different.  The one thing that saved the most lives in the Civil war was one word, duck!  Have a great 2011!

Dogs have been used in studies to detect various cancers in human subjects. They have been trained to sniff breath samples from humans that were collected by having them breathe into special tubes. These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).
