Answer: He discovered lithography when he tried to save the cost of paper by writing on stone and he saw that he could etch on the stone and print his etched image.

Answer: The German Expressionists employed the woodcut print, which enabled them to create a jagged rawness to the forms by gouging roughly into the wood block.
