Answer to Question 1

Answer: He used the technique of frottage. He placed a sheet of paper, painted brown, over an unraveled spool of string and rubbed across the paper with an orange crayon. This way, he created the contour lines of the figures in the painting. He painted the area above the figures with blue paint.
